Job Summary
Assist teachers in carrying out lesson plans by helping students with academic studies, behavior, and organization. Ensure student safety in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, gymnasiums, and during field trips. Tutor children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts and teach social and self-care skills. Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, manage behavior, and facilitate access to assistive devices and facilities. Coordinate instructional efforts with classroom teachers, file materials, and report student progress to educational specialists. Perform other duties as assigned, including bus loading and unloading. Maintain confidentiality of student records and interact positively with staff, students, and parents.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Appropriate certification/license from Ohio Department of Education
- Educational Aide Permit with ESEA qualified endorsement
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations
- Regularly required to speak and hear
- Required to have dexterity of hands and fingers
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus
- Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Occasionally required to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch
- Occasionally asked to push, pull, lift or carry under 25 pounds
- Occasional interaction among unruly children
