Job Summary
Special Education Aide in a self-contained classroom supports instructional activities and student management under the supervision of a principal and certified teachers. Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, maintaining a neat classroom, assisting with inventory and records, orienting substitutes, transferring and positioning students with disabilities, assisting with personal care, managing behavior and crisis interruptions, supporting motor skills development, supervising students throughout the day, and adhering to safety protocols. Requires a Texas educational aide certificate, a high school diploma or GED, and (preferably) an associate’s degree or two years of college study. Strong communication, follow-through on instructions, and ability to work with students with disabilities are essential.
