Job Summary
Provide instructional support in a self-contained Special Education classroom, assisting the certified teacher with program implementation, materials preparation, classroom organization, student supervision, and records. Support students with disabilities in areas such as self-help, behavior management, and physical tasks (transfers, positioning, and personal care as needed). Maintain confidentiality, adhere to safety protocols, and participate in staff development; assist substitutes and contribute to a positive, orderly learning environment. Must be able to support students with physical, medical, communicative, and emotional needs, and respond to crises as directed by the teacher.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate’s degree or two years of study at an institution of higher learning
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Experience: Some experience working with children
