Job Summary
Plan and implement the library media center program while creating and maintaining an environment for leisure reading, classroom activities, and computer use. Deliver library media services by providing resources and instruction to ensure students and teachers become independent users of information. Prepare and provide literature activities to promote a love of reading, establish standards for acceptable student behavior, and develop a balanced comprehensive collection of print, non-print, and digital resources. Assist staff in resource selection, model instructional applications and technology use, and ensure observance of copyright and licensing policies. Engage in professional development to enhance knowledge of digital literacy and best practices while maintaining collaborative relationships with school staff, students, parents, and community members.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree
- Florida Professional Educator Certification in Educational Media Specialist
- One (1) year of successful experience in classroom teaching for candidates that do not possess a Masters in Library Information Science
- Reads and interprets general business and professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations
- Writes reports, correspondence, and manuals
- Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public
- Works with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry
- Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
