Spec Engineering Lead

Job Summary
Define Rubiscape's Spec Engineering methodology, including grammar, templates, and review processes that govern how functional specifications are authored for AI coding agents. Lead a team of 2–4 Spec Engineers by setting quality standards, conducting spec reviews, and growing capability in structured requirements writing. Partner with Product Management and UX to convert product briefs into unambiguous, LLM-executable specs, while collaborating with AI Development teams to align formats with prompt patterns. Build and maintain a shared spec library with reusable patterns and versioned repositories to train future AI agents. Establish measurable quality metrics and report progress to engineering leadership. Act as a subject-matter expert on AI-driven development practices, coaching engineers across the org on writing better specs and consuming AI outputs responsibly.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering or technical product management, with at least 2 years focused on AI-assisted or spec-driven development methodologies
- Demonstrated experience writing high-precision functional specifications or technical requirements documents for complex enterprise software systems
- Strong understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations in code generation contexts, including prompt sensitivity, hallucination patterns, and context window management
- Proven leadership experience: ability to build, mentor, and set technical direction for a small specialist team
- Excellent written communication skills — this role produces artefacts that must be interpreted by both humans and machines without ambiguity
- B.E. / B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science or Software Engineering; MBA with strong technical background also considered
Desired Qualifications
- Direct experience with formal specification languages, structured natural language requirements frameworks (e.g., EARS, Gherkin/BDD), or model-based engineering
- Familiarity with Rubiscape's technology domain: data pipelines, AutoML, BI/analytics platforms, or enterprise AI deployment
- Prior experience scaling engineering velocity at a B2B SaaS company through process and toolchain improvements
- Published work, talks, or open-source contributions in the AI-assisted software development space
