Job Summary
Radiation Safety Specialist to support compliant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across West Point, North Wales, and Spring House sites. Develop, implement, and maintain radiation safety procedures and training; manage calibration and inventory of radiation detection instrumentation; conduct radiation surveys and inspections; coordinate dosimetry activities; receive and monitor RAM shipments; support non-ionizing radiation and laser safety; investigate incidents and implement corrective actions; identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements; provide general EHS support and participate in emergency response as needed; collaboration with operations to align safety objectives with site business goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in physical science or related technical field
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in radiation safety or a related scientific discipline with working knowledge of federal and state regulations governing radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment
- Strong critical thinking and effective communication skills
- Experience managing radioactive and mixed waste programs in compliance with regulatory standards
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- Proficient in computer applications and highly effective in both written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability in project management and problem-solving within a technical or regulatory environment
