Job Summary
Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate Spanish curriculum for students in TK through 8th grade, integrating vocabulary, grammar, conversation, and cultural awareness. Deliver engaging lessons while differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all learners, and regularly collect data to inform and adjust teaching strategies. Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership to support cross-curricular connections, share best practices, and actively participate in ongoing professional development. Establish a positive classroom culture, maintain strong management, and communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress. Evaluate academic and social growth, prepare progress reports and report cards, and return voice-mail and e-mail messages in a timely manner. Maintain a neat classroom, observe confidentiality, and supervise playground areas as required.
Required Qualifications
- Active, practicing Roman Catholic
- Possess a cleared California multiple subject teaching credential
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree
- Clear criminal background check (a clear Livescan for the Diocese of San Diego)
- Experience teaching in an elementary school classroom
- Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy
- Must be able to spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom
- Must be able to sit on an occasional basis when developing lesson plans, grading, etc.
- Must be able to walk through the classroom and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks
- Must be able to walk on both even and uneven surfaces
- Must be able to deal with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending
- Must be able to reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity
- Must be able to assist in moving children's desks and chairs
- Must be able to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds
- Must be mobile to, from, and within the classroom and preschool environment
- Must be able to maneuver throughout the school facility
- Must be able to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend trainings or workshops
