Job Summary
Determine donor eligibility by conducting medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing while managing informed consent and confidential self-exclusion. Evaluate donor reactions and administer Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccinations as applicable, following SOPs for medical emergencies and donor transport to emergency care. Review laboratory test results, including Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE), and notify donors of unsuitable findings after consulting the Center Physician or Medical Affairs. Manage employee incidents and support pandemic threat investigations when authorized. This role supports plasma center operations at a BioLife Plasma Services location in Thornton, CO, where collected plasma becomes life-changing medicines.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
- Spanish speaking
