Job Summary
Spanish Reviewer/Editor/Certifier for DOJ linguistic support services, handling translation of documents and multimedia, transcription, and interpretation across legal, medical, financial, and technical domains. Requires strong English editing, ILR level 4 or equivalent, U.S. residence history, U.S. citizenship, law-enforcement/legal department experience, CAT tool proficiency (SDL Trados), ability to work with sensitive material under confidentiality, and readiness for some travel. Remote work available with National Capital Region and CONUS locations; travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the required language with superior English and editing
- ILR level 4 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests
- Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S. (not necessarily consecutive)
- Must have at least 1 year of experience working with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Know both English and foreign language vocabularies used in formal, legal, diplomatic, consultative, and casual contexts
- Know specialized vocabulary in English and the foreign language related to the Government’s varied roles and missions; ability to use translation resources, monolingual references, and online materials
- Native-language fluency with professional command of the non-native language
- Translate to be factually and conceptually accurate without changes, omissions, or additions
- Preserve tone and register of source materials
- Abide by relevant codes of linguist ethics
- Proficient in Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, with emphasis on SDL Trados Studio
- Clearance: Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Location: Remote / National Capital Region / Various CONUS Locations
- Travel: Some travel may be required
