Job Summary
Provide medical interpretation and translation across Intermountain Health facilities and virtual services, performing consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation with high accuracy while adhering to ethical standards, HIPAA, and applicable civil rights regulations. Translate written materials, act as a cultural mediator, maintain accurate interpretation records, and utilize electronic tools (including EPIC) to support research, data entry, and communication. The role requires completing a 40-hour Professional Medical Interpreter course (or equivalent qualifications) and demonstrates professional proficiency in both languages. Part-time/PRN schedule with 0 hours per week, based at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Required Qualifications
- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish at level 3 ILR or equivalent
- Successful completion of a 40-hour Professional Medical Interpreter course or equivalent within six months if not met
- Ability to perform consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation with high accuracy
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Experience in fast-paced, high-pressure healthcare settings
- Interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of EPIC and healthcare terminology
