Job Summary
Freelance interpreter/translator in Palm Springs, CA operating as a 1099 Independent Contractor. Provide interpretation services to support language access in medical, legal, or educational settings. Set your availability and accept appointments based on your schedule; appointments primarily Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm, with no guaranteed slots. Starting pay is $25 per hour, with compensation contingent on availability, experience, and demand. Must be bilingual with English and target language proficiency, demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, adaptability, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently or as part of a team. Must be located in and authorized to work in the US; visa sponsorship is not offered. Recruitment process includes submitting an application, a preliminary interview, a skills assessment and background check, and onboarding to join the linguist network. Equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Fluency in English and target language with comprehensive understanding of idiomatic speech and cultural patterns
- Previous interpreting experience preferably in medical, legal, or educational settings
- Demonstrated professionalism, punctuality, and adaptability in the workplace
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate basic communication tools
- Flexibility to work in different settings and adapt to various work environments
- Must be located in and authorized to work in the US (no visa sponsorship)
