Job Summary
Answer all client calls professionally, relaying first name and interpreter ID for every interaction. Conduct intake and pre-session scripting, then render correct concepts and meanings between speakers while maintaining accurate grammar, clarity, and tone. Closely follow client instructions, interjecting only when additional clarity or repetition is required, and manage the flow of the conversation. Always have a medical glossary available to reference during active calls. Maintain complete fluency in English and your mother tongue with two years of professional telephone interpreting experience. High-speed internet service with minimum 10MB download and 5MB upload speeds is required; cellular and cordless phones are not permitted.
Required Qualifications
- Complete fluency in English in addition to your mother tongue
- 2+ years of professional telephone interpreting experience
- Excellent cultural understanding and ability to clearly explain cultural concepts to avoid miscommunication
- Outstanding ability to remain neutral and objective during calls, excluding personal comments and feelings from the conversation
- Excellent accuracy - listening, memory retention
- Excellent medical terminology knowledge and ability to reference medical glossaries during active calls
- High-speed internet service with minimum download speeds of 10MB and upload speeds of at least 5MB
- Cellular and cordless phones are not allowed
Desired Qualifications
- Training Program in the interpreting/language industry is a plus
