Job Summary
Teach nine undergraduate courses annually covering Hispanic literature, cultures of Spain and Spanish America, and third-year reading, while advising and mentoring students. Participate in academic conferences and workshops to share and learn best practices in teaching Spanish language, literature, and culture. Serve on departmental, college, and university committees and maintain current field knowledge through professional development activities. Work in a respectful, collegial manner with all faculty, staff, and student instructors. Relocate to and reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Hispanic/Spanish literature, cultural studies, or equivalent
- PhD in Portuguese, Comparative Literature, or a related field
- Experience teaching Spanish courses at the university level
- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Relocation to Utah
- Residence in Utah for the duration of employment
- Current temple recommend (for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)
- Worthiness to hold a temple recommend (for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)
- Adherence to the university's Honor Code
- Adherence to Dress & Grooming Standards
- Membership in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (preferred but treated as a required trait for the specific religious mission context described as mandatory for alignment)
