Job Summary
Oversee Spaceport Village Operations including execution of the leasing/rental housing program, transportation, amenities, and events. Monitor quality and consistency by setting standards, inspecting areas, and enforcing proper safety practices with staff. Train employees on customer service, anticipate guest needs, and resolve problems while managing performance reviews. Coordinate hiring, onboarding, and payroll, then create training materials and RFPOs for vendor selection. Drive revenue by monitoring financial activities, obtaining bids, and ensuring accurate purchase orders without cost overruns. Provide campus-wide reporting on departmental spend and metrics as requested.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2+ years of experience within the hospitality or operations industry
- Must be willing to travel to other SpaceX locations for significant/extended periods of time as needed (up to 85% of the time)
- Willingness to relocate to Starbase, Texas with potential for shift work in a remote location
- Stand: Up to 6 hours per day
- Sit: Up to 3 hours per day
- Push/Pull: Up to 50lbs. (unassisted) 1-2 hours per day
- Overhead reach: Up to 1 hour per day
- Walk: Up to 3 hours per day
- Lift/Carry: Up to 25lbs. (unassisted) 1-2 hours per day
- Climb (ladder/stairs): Up to 1 hour per day
- Kneel/Crouch: Up to 1 hour per day
- Upper body twist: Up to 1 hour per day
- Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees up to 1 hour per day
- Candidate must be capable of safely performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description
- Candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment questionnaire and/or physical to confirm these capabilities, which may include a medical history review
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Desired Qualifications
- Experience opening new operations and/or creating operational procedures from the ground up
- Experience leading a team within the hospitality or operations industry
- Advanced knowledge of customer service and problem resolution
- Experienced with Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Excellent knowledge of room inventory, housekeeping processes and guest service
- Experience in a corporate environment
- Proficient knowledge of human resources management
- Ability to organize work for large groups in various service formats
- Strong time management skills
- Experience with high volume, complex multidisciplinary operations
- Experience leading groups in large team settings of 10 or more staff members
- Eye for aesthetic industrial design
- Experience with facilities within an aerospace industry
- Familiar with space planning procedures and operations
- Ability to create and update RFPOs and facilities work orders in an ERP software
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to make independent judgments with limited information
- Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees, vendors, and customers
- Logical and strategic approach to solving problems
- Ability to read and understand basic floor plans
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic directions
