Job Summary
Space Assembler/Solder 2 (Space) 2nd shift focuses on assembling parts per process sheets, performing electrical/mechanical/magnetic testing, and solder/braze-related tasks. Candidates use hand tools and precision measuring devices, operate high-temperature equipment, and may engage in first-article builds, process improvements, and cross-functional collaboration. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of manufacturing experience, blueprint/process interpretation, and the ability to obtain Solder, Braze, and ESD certifications. Responsibilities include fixture setup, in-process hi-pot testing, vapor blasting, inventory verification, and maintaining safety and quality through PPE and rigorous documentation. Familiarity with 5S/lean practices, Oracle transactions, and willingness to participate in team initiatives is desired. The position offers a $23/hour base pay with a 10% shift differential, comprehensive GE Aerospace benefits, and relocation is not provided.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalency
- 1 year manufacturing experience
- Intermediate understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation
- Ability to use basic hand tools (crimpers, soldering iron, wire strippers, brazing equipment) and measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, rulers)
- Ability to operate high temperature ovens and furnaces
- Ability to pass Visual Acuity Exam as necessary
- Ability and willingness to obtain Solder, Braze, and Electro-Static discharge certification as required
- Assemble parts according to process sheet/print instructions
- Perform electrical, mechanical, magnetic testing as required (i.e. dielectric, megger, hipot)
- Perform in-process hi-pot testing; basic fixture setup
- Perform vapor blasting; inventory verification
- Assist with prototype or first time builds
- Assist Engineering in development/improvement of layouts
- Review expiration date of materials
- Proactively improve efficiency and quality
- Possess inspection stamp as required
- Utilize PPE and safety procedures
- Crosstrain other employees
- Complete labor tracking documentation
- Perform basic Oracle transactions
- Report problems to appropriate resource
- Communicate with team about new processes/issues
- Participate in cross-functional team initiatives
- Understand and abide by GE Behaviors
