Job Summary

Provide programmatic, educational, policy, and administrative support to the Mental Health & Addiction Advocacy Coalition and its Southwest Hub steering committee. Develop and implement the local advocacy agenda by researching behavioral health funding and public policy matters, then represent the hub at community meetings and educate local officials on the regional agenda. Lead member identification, recruitment, and retention efforts within the Southwest region while assisting with grant writing, reporting, and the creation of educational communications content. Prepare materials for the Southwest Steering Committee, policy committees, and membership meetings, and distribute relevant materials throughout the region. Frequent travel is required within Brown, Butler, Clinton, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren Counties, with some travel across Ohio. Evening and weekend hours may be necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of government systems and budgets
  • Experience working with grassroots organizing campaigns, coalition organization, or advocacy/ public policy initiatives
  • Experience in behavioral health or healthcare issues
  • Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office products (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Frequent travel within SWO Hub (Brown, Butler, Clinton, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren Counties) and some travel within the rest of Ohio
  • Evening and weekend hours
  • Communication: Expresses thoughts clearly, concisely, and effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated emotional intelligence with an ability to balance an empathy forward response with compliance with regulatory requirements at all levels of the organization. Enjoys working closely with other people to understand their concerns and seeking out the ways our workplace might address them
  • Proficiency in handling office equipment, such as printers, copiers, and telephones
  • Ability to lift light to moderately weighted items, such as office supplies or files
