Job Summary
Perform pre-anesthetic assessments, document evaluations, and obtain informed consent for orthopedic and pain management cases. Manage patient airways, oversee emergence and recovery, and discharge patients from the post-anesthesia care area. Respond to emergency situations using advanced cardiac life support techniques and administer emergency fluids or drugs. Develop standards for continuity of care and ensure compliance with American Association of Nurse Anesthetists rules at local, state, and federal levels. Attend meetings as needed and collaborate with peers to solve outstanding issues. Work Monday through Friday in 10-hour shifts with no call requirements. This role supports Southern Bone and Joint's orthopedic and pain management procedures within an AAAHC-accredited surgery center.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing
- Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor
- Successfully completed the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Council on Certification or its predecessor
- At least two years of independent experience
- ACLS/BLS/PALS certification
- Monday through Friday schedule
- 10-hour shifts
- No call requirements
- Function as a collaborator and team member
- Remains cognizant of rules and regulation as they pertain to the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists
- Remains compliant at a local, state, and federal level
- Provide professional anesthesia services to patients in accordance with the standard of care and state and federal laws
- Performing and timely and accurately documenting a pre-anesthetic assessments and patient evaluations
- Requesting consultations and diagnostic studies
- Selecting, obtaining, ordering, or administering pre-anesthetic medications and fluids
- Obtaining informed consent for anesthesia
- Managing a patient's airway
- Managing emergence and recovery from anesthesia
- Releasing or discharging patients from a post-anesthesia care area
- Providing post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care related to anesthesia side effects or complications
- Responding to emergency situations by providing airway management
- Administration of emergency fluids or drugs
- Using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques
- Attends meetings as needed
- Works with peers to obtain required information on a timely basis
- Solve outstanding issues, as appropriate
- Promotes and contributes positively to the teamwork of the department
- Assisting coworkers
- Contributing ideas and problem-solving with co-workers
