Job Summary
The Sous Chef prepares and serves wholesome, nutritious, and attractive food while ensuring it is served at appropriate temperatures. This role involves using high-quality ingredients, controlling costs through proper portioning, recording food storage temperatures, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and managing inventory. The Sous Chef also assumes responsibility for ordering, menu writing, and scheduling in the absence of the Dining Services Director. Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED, at least two years of cooking experience preferably in healthcare or hospitality, and hold a Serv-Safe Certification.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years cooking experience preferably within the healthcare or hospitality field
- Serv-Safe Certification required
- Ability to communicate by speaking, seeing, and hearing sufficient to serve the residents
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to work with various levels of people, associates, and residents
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Completion of drug testing and criminal record background check upon hire and upon request of supervisor
