Job Summary
Match product requirements with suppliers possessing the technical expertise and regulatory capabilities needed to manufacture premium products at scale. Lead negotiations with new and existing suppliers to secure favorable product COGS and key business terms. Prepare RFQs, manage the quoting process, consolidate quotations, and build scenarios to make informed recommendations aligned with company objectives. Plan pre-award meetings, coordinate evaluation processes, and manage product transitions during supply base optimization initiatives. Monitor supplier performance against target KPIs, maintain supplier scorecards, and support confidentiality protections for formulations. Evaluate contract manufacturers' formulation, blending, filling, and packaging capabilities while assessing raw material costs and regulatory constraints. Identify alternate ingredients or manufacturing approaches that improve cost, quality, and supply continuity without compromising product requirements. Execute strategic business objectives regarding supplier base optimization and lead formulation transfers and supplier qualification activities. Approximately 25% travel required to visit potential and existing suppliers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field
- At least 3 years of experience managing and sourcing global suppliers with proven success in locating and developing suppliers with world class capabilities
- 3+ years of sourcing, procurement, supplier development, or manufacturing experience involving formulated consumer products, personal care, OTC products, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or similarly regulated products
- Experience as lead negotiator with proven performance
- Strong project management experience and demonstrated ability to lead multiple cross-functional projects concurrently to completion
- Very strong negotiating skills
- Experience dealing with suppliers in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States
- Understanding of / experience in working with commodities (raw materials, plastics, resins)
- Demonstrated ability to understand & breakdown COGs, with a high degree of accuracy
- Working knowledge of formulation manufacturing processes, including ingredient sourcing, batching, blending, filling, testing, scale-up, and finished product packaging
- Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing best practices
- Experience handling requests for information, quotations, proposals and bidding processes, as well as social compliance, quality and capabilities audits
- The disposition to prioritize, organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail and quality
- A sense of urgency to quickly, decisively, and efficiently resolve business issues
- The ability to build strong and trusting cross-functional relationships
- Excellent communication skills
- Approximately 25% travel required to visit potential and existing suppliers
Desired Qualifications
- Strong in all Microsoft Office solutions, especially Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of global sourcing platforms + resources
- CAD experience a plus
