Job Summary
Oversee the manufacture, inspection, testing, and release of approximately 150 kilometers of offshore seamless line pipe at a steel manufacturing facility in Wakayama, Japan. Conduct steelmaking and billet inspection, monitor pipe manufacturing and heat treatment, and perform ultrasonic and radiographic testing. Execute dimensional inspection, manage material traceability and documentation review, and provide port loadout surveillance. Submit daily and weekly reports while identifying and escalating quality concerns. A Lead Inspector coordinates shift coverage, reviews data and reports, monitors quality trends, and provides technical guidance. The assignment runs from mid-August 2026 through June 2027 with a schedule of approximately 12 hours per day, 5-6 days per week, at a rate of USD $50 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant line pipe, fixed equipment, steel manufacturing, or source inspection experience
- Strong knowledge of DNV-ST-F101
- Experience with seamless line pipe manufacturing and inspection
- Ability to review ITPs, specifications, test results, and quality records
- Strong reporting and communication skills
- Ability to work extended shifts
- Ability to remain in Japan for the assignment duration
