Sound Technician

Job Summary
Set up and operate sound equipment for live performances and events on board a cruise ship, conducting sound checks and making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal sound quality. Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues with sound equipment during performances, while maintaining and repairing gear as needed. Collaborate with performers and other crew members to ensure a seamless and successful show, and train and supervise other crew members in sound operation. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in sound technology, and follow all safety protocols and regulations while operating sound equipment. Assist with other technical aspects of performances and events as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, Sound tech degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Sound Technician, preferably in a live performance setting
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting a variety of sound equipment, including mixers, microphones, speakers, and amplifiers
- Strong knowledge of sound engineering principles and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
Desired Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and wiring is a plus
