Sound Supervisor

Job Summary
Lead responsibility for delivering and managing all sound requirements for Pittsburgh Playhouse productions, projects, and events; design and program sound consoles as needed; supervise students and over-hires, coordinate labor/equipment, and maintain safe working environments. Responsibilities include hanging/mic-ing/reinforcing sound, designing sound, troubleshooting, coordinating schedules with the Technical Director, attending relevant meetings, and maintaining/budgeting sound operations. Strong emphasis on supervisory capabilities, instructional skills for students, and up-to-date knowledge of sound technology and systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 3 years professional sound experience in sound design and/or audio engineering
- Supervisory skills
- Some mechanical skills in the use of hand and power tools
- Ability to read, generate, and understand ground plans, sections, sound plots, and electrical schematics
- Ability to implement and hang a speaker plot and troubleshoot
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Ability to instruct students and over hires on material relevant to sound
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Minimum Dante Level 1 certification and experience with networked sound systems and equipment
