Job Summary

Review patient history, physician orders, and schedules while educating patients on procedures and equipment. Prepare and administer contrast media or medications when ordered, then continuously monitor patient condition to report status changes. Select imaging parameters, position patients, and perform sonography procedures, analyzing results to resolve quality issues by re-positioning or repeating as needed. Enter and transmit scan results, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and implement safety standards and quality control procedures. Work within scope of practice requiring critical thinking and decisive judgment in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program
  • Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • State licensure if required by law
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date
  • BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire
