Job Summary
Review patient history, physician orders, and schedules; educate patients on procedures and equipment to ensure cooperation. Perform sonography by positioning patients, selecting imaging parameters, and analyzing results to identify quality issues. Monitor patient condition, administer contrast media or medications when ordered, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. Enter, transmit, and report scan results while maintaining safety standards and quality control procedures. Work with Radiology students in a fast-paced environment requiring critical thinking and decisive judgment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program
- Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- State licensure if required by law
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date
- BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire
