Job Summary
Review patient history, physician orders, and schedules. Educate patients on procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure cooperation. Prepare and administer contrast media or medications when ordered. Monitor patient condition, report status changes, and perform imaging procedures with appropriate exposure factors. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, implement safety standards, and conduct quality control. Analyze results, resolve image quality issues by re-positioning or repeating procedures, and transmit scan reports. Work with Radiology students as needed. Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program
- Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- State licensure if required by law
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date
- BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire
