Job Summary
Operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment to perform procedures on internal organs, vessels, fluid accumulations, masses, and fetuses. Report preliminary findings, measurements, and diagnoses to radiologists or cardiologists. Record scanned images, verify quality, and transfer them to the imaging system for interpretation. Requires current credentialing as an RDCS, RDMS, RT(S), or RCS with applicable registry certification within one year. Pay range is $30.70 to $49.90 per hour for weekend AM and PM shifts. Start date may be between now and August 2026 due to construction timelines. Join UAB Medicine's Emergency Department expansion at Alabama's Level I trauma center.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Currently credentialed as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Currently registered as a Registered Technologist with Sonography Designation (R.T.(S)(ARRT)) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Currently credentialed as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- Applicable registration within one (1) year for new graduates
- For Radiology department: ARDMS Registered Vascular Technology (RVT), ARRT Vascular Sonography (VS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) required within 24 months of hire into classification
