Job Summary
Perform diagnostic procedures on pediatric patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation. Sets up and adjusts equipment, manually maneuvers transducers, and implements safety standards while performing routine and complex studies. Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations, ensuring prompt submission of high-quality images to PACS. Maintains a clean department, ensures equipment functionality, and reports malfunctions or locks/tag outs as appropriate. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner, maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Sonography program
- 2 or more ARDMS/CCI registries in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Breast, Echo, or Vascular
- State of Work Location: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Abdomen (AB) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Second registry must be used in primary department or secondary department 30% of the time
- Constant standing and walking
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more)
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication
- Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs
- Frequent lifting/moving of patients
- Frequent reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs
- Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors
- Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements
- Rare kneeling and sitting
