Job Summary
Review patient history, physician orders, and schedules; educate patients on procedures and equipment to ensure cooperation. Administer contrast media or medications when ordered. Continually monitor patient condition and report status changes. Prepare equipment, select imaging parameters, and position patients for ultrasound exams. Analyze results, resolve image quality issues by re-positioning or repeating procedures, and enter scan results. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement safety standards. Work within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program
- Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- State licensure if required by law
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification
- Critical thinking skills
- Decisive judgement
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
