Job Summary
Review patient history, physician orders, and schedules; educate patients on procedures and equipment to ensure cooperation. Prepare and administer contrast media or medications as ordered. Monitor patient condition continually, reporting status changes immediately. Select appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters while positioning patients for scans. Analyze results to identify quality issues, re-positioning patients or repeating procedures as necessary. Enter, transmit, and report scan results. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions while implementing safety standards and performing quality control. Work within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, utilizing critical thinking and decisive judgment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program
- Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- State licensure if required by law
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to take appropriate action
