Job Summary
Review patient history, physician orders, and schedules; educate patients on procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure cooperation. Prepare and administer contrast media or medications when ordered, while continuously monitoring patient conditions and reporting status changes. Select appropriate exposure factors, position patients, and perform imaging procedures, then analyze results to identify and resolve quality issues. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, implement safety standards, and enter or transmit scan reports. Work within scope of practice with critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program
- Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- State licensure if required by law
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date
- BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
