Job Summary
Perform ultrasound examinations under physician direction to identify abnormalities for patient diagnosis. Ensure proper patient identification, verify orders, and prepare patients for exams across all age groups using appropriate protocols and ACR guidelines. Utilize proper imaging techniques to produce high-quality diagnostic information in minimal time while completing and annotating medically acceptable exams. Demonstrate proficiency on clinical equipment, maintain a current quality control program, and report any equipment failures. Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, and obtaining consents, while thoroughly documenting time stamps and image storage. Adhere to safety practices including body substance protection, sterile techniques, and equipment cleaning.
Required Qualifications
- ARRT Registry or ARDMS Registry
- The ARDMS must include successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, and, vascular)
- Basic life support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
- Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I
- Primary Children's one of the two years must be pediatric experience
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry
- Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries)
- Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
- Primary Children's one of the two registries must be pediatric
- Health Services BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
- Must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients
- Obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment
- Including heavy items
- Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms
- Full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Friday - Monday (Friday12-1030p, Sat/Sun- 10a-8:30p, Mon- 7-5:30)
