Job Summary
Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations on patients according to physician orders and established protocols. Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort and safety. Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness. Capture high-quality images and document findings accurately for physician review and diagnosis. Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss imaging results and assist in clinical decision-making. Maintain detailed patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards. Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advancements in sonography techniques and technology.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program
- Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain high standards of accuracy and professionalism
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a clinical or hospital setting performing ultrasound examinations
- Specialized training or certification in areas such as abdominal, obstetric, or vascular sonography
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and imaging software
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
