Job Summary
Utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, while directly interacting with patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and prepare them for scans. Meticulously adjust settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images, monitor patient safety and comfort, and select and examine images for pathologies. Obtain complete patient histories, record data, and present preliminary findings to physicians. Verify informed consent, assist with interventional procedures, and practice aseptic techniques. Ensure equipment is in working order, perform quality tests, and report equipment issues or patient injuries via the incident reporting system. Participate in quality improvement projects and adhere to radiation safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in, or graduate of, a Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiology Technology program
- graduate of a post-secondary allied health profession program
- on-the-job training with registered sonographer
- Basic Life Support - CPR
