Job Summary
Sommelier conducts wine sales on the floor and services guests with beverage expertise; responsibilities include upselling wines, taking orders via POS, managing glassware and wine temperatures, decanting when needed, conducting wine tastings and quality checks, maintaining pour levels, running beverage service, wine inventory bi-weekly, and weekly wine ordering with manager approval. Requires at least 2 years in a luxury restaurant or hotel, Level 2 Sommelier certification, strong listening and communication skills, guest-focused multitasking, teamwork, adaptability to flexible evenings/weekends/holidays, and an ability to work on site in a high-end environment.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years previous high-end restaurant or hotel experience
- Current food handler card
- Level 2 Sommelier Certification or higher
- Excellent listener and communicator
- Ability to focus on guest interaction and multitask
- Team player and able to anticipate others’ needs
- Positive attitude
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required
