Job Summary
Sommelier at St. Regis Rome: represent the hotel and be the face of the wine program, curate and update a diverse, trendy wine list, and provide warm, knowledgeable guest engagement. Responsibilities include pairing wines with menu items, requesting new wines, researching trends, conducting staff wine tastings, overseeing inventory to maintain budgeted cost, ordering wine equipment and glassware, updating wine lists for outlets, designing wine promotions, meeting with distributors and vendors, training staff on wine origin, vintage, and pairings, maintaining HACCP-compliant storage and temperature controls, and supporting opening/closing duties. Requires experience as a sommelier in luxury hospitality, fluency in English and Italian, strong storytelling and customer-service skills, and the ability to lead and train team members in a fast-paced environment. Availability to work late nights, weekends, and holidays is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as Sommelier in luxury and lifestyle hospitality
- Good command of English and Italian
- Excellent verbal manner and proven customer service skills
- Good knowledge or experience in the hospitality industry
- Good organization skills with attention to detail
- Team player with flexible & positive attitude
- Leadership and training experience
