Job Summary
Somali Linguist responsibilities include interpretation (in-person and virtual), translation of written/audio/video materials, transcription, document editing/review, and foreign language instruction across government-contract needs. This evergreen requisition supports multiple language-support roles within YSG and TU, with opportunities across various clients and potential locations. Candidates may be considered for a range of language-support roles as requirements arise, and must meet ILR English proficiency levels and security-clearance eligibility. The role emphasizes accurate, culturally aware language work, maintaining tone and register, and contributing as part of a professional linguistic team.
Required Qualifications
- Must be qualified/certified at one of the following categories: CAT I, CAT II, or CAT III with ILR level requirements and security clearance prerequisites
- Proven ability to provide idiomatic translations and accurate interpretation between English and a foreign language
- Experience in classroom or virtual foreign language instruction
- Capacity to work under high pressure and adapt to mission-driven environments
- Ability to function as a member of a highly trained professional team
- Ability to operate in remote/hard environments as mission dictates
- Clearance eligibility: CAT I with local/TCN/uncleared U.S. citizen status and background check; CAT II with SECRET clearance; CAT III with TOP SECRET/SCI access
