Job Summary
Architect, design, and implement Linux- and Windows-based enterprise systems, backend services, orchestration platforms, and secure infrastructure components for DARPA product teams. Support solution architecture and technical design by producing system diagrams, interface definitions, and integration patterns while applying deep technical breadth across systems engineering, networking, cybersecurity, cloud, and distributed systems. Engineer, integrate, and maintain security tools including SIEM, SOAR, EDR, and vulnerability management platforms. Lead systems hardening, secure configurations, STIG implementation, and cybersecurity compliance activities. Develop automation and CI/CD workflows, including air-gapped pipelines, for deployment and configuration management. Conduct advanced troubleshooting across hybrid infrastructures and mission-critical operational environments. Ensure project transition success through strong documentation and knowledge transfer to receiving teams. Provide occasional after-hours support to sustain critical operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, software/application development, or security engineering
- 3+ years in classified or air‐gapped environments
- CompTIA Security+
- DoD IAT Level II or III Certification (or ability to obtain)
- DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility, with the ability to obtain CI Polygraph
Desired Qualifications
- Successfully pass background and drug screening
- Deep technical breadth across Linux systems, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, and distributed system design
- Strong experience with Microsoft and Linux engineering (RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu Server), SELinux, kernel tuning, systemd, and OS-level security
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Salt, Chef) and infrastructure automation
- Hands-on experience with virtualization (VMware, KVM) and container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift)
- Ability to architect, design, and document complex systems and security solutions
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) in secure or regulated environments, and good understanding of automation and CI/CD pipelines in air‐gapped or restricted networks
- Experience integrating and operating SIEM/SOAR platforms (Splunk, Cortex, QRadar, Sentinel)
- Familiarity with EDR, IDS/IPS, OSQuery, Suricata, Zeek, Tenable/Nessus, and hardening frameworks
- Strong understanding of NIST, STIGs, RMF, ATO processes, and security architecture
- Demonstrated ability to support architectural decisions, evaluate alternatives, and propose secure, scalable system designs
- Respected as a technical leader with the ability to influence engineering decisions and gain buy-in from diverse stakeholders
- Ability to present solutions to leadership, external partners, and government stakeholders with clarity and confidence
- Proven experience working with multidisciplinary teams across systems engineering, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, cloud, software development, and operational teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate mission needs into technical requirements
- Ability to stay current with emerging technologies, cybersecurity threats, and modern engineering practices
- Comfortable learning rapidly, adapting solutions, and leading teams through evolving mission environments
- Advanced troubleshooting skills in complex, mission-critical environments
- Ability to lead through ambiguity, shifting priorities, and complex stakeholder needs
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across engineering teams and customer organizations
