Job Summary
Guide warehouse automation solution development from initial concept through proposal submission, translating customer requirements into scalable automation concepts. Develop system layouts, proposal drawings, and technical documentation while evaluating alternative builds to optimize performance, cost, and risk. Lead engineering efforts encompassing project planning, resource coordination, and technical implementation, including the creation of accurate cost estimates and quotations. Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and customers to drive solution architecture and support presentations, while mentoring engineers and acting as a trusted advisor. Travel up to 25% to influence large-scale projects and build future-ready supply chain technology.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical area, or equivalent experience
- More than 5 years of experience in material handling, warehouse automation, systems engineering, solution development, or a comparable technical area
- Extensive knowledge of material handling systems, warehouse automation technologies, and distribution center operations
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, controls architecture, warehouse control software (WCS), and coordinated automation solutions
- Experience in solution architecture, system development, estimation, risk evaluation, and data-informed decision-making
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the capability to review operational data and formulate effective engineering suggestions
- Proven experience overseeing projects, including planning, prioritization, resource coordination, and risk management
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation abilities, capable of conveying complex technical ideas to varied audiences
- Experience influencing collaborators and building positive relationships across customer and internal teams
- Experience supporting automated distribution, fulfillment, manufacturing, or similar industrial environments
- Ability to travel up to 25%
