Job Summary
Solutions Architect at Houston Zoo leads modernization of the enterprise application portfolio, defining and governing the architecture across CRM, ERP, ticketing, HRIS, donor/CRM platforms, and animal management systems. Responsible for designing integration approaches, API standards, and middleware usage; directing implementation decisions with vendors and engineering teams to improve interoperability, data quality, staff efficiency, and long-term sustainability while reducing technical debt. Oversees data governance, security, and analytics platforms; drives cloud adoption and modernization roadmaps; develops architecture artifacts, data models, and integration patterns; ensures alignment with organizational goals and mission to support animal care, guest services, and conservation outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
- Minimum 7-10 years of technology leadership including at least 5 years in enterprise/solutions architecture
- Data warehouse experience and ETL technologies
- Professional certifications strongly preferred (e.g., TOGAF, Azure/AWS Solutions Architect, Security+, PMP)
- Minimum 5 years demonstrated business acumen translating strategy into secure, scalable enterprise solutions
- Proven ability to lead modernization efforts with change management and stakeholder engagement
- Strong leadership and potential supervisory responsibilities
- Experience with Sage Intacct and Salesforce preferred
- Experience designing and implementing integrated technology ecosystems (Microsoft 365, Azure, Salesforce)
- Strong knowledge of system integration, data management, and cybersecurity frameworks
- Proven success in digital transformation, cloud migration, data governance and system integration
