Job Summary
Lead development of microgrid and distributed generation solutions for customer proposals, including system architecture, equipment sizing, and technical scope. Develop electrical system designs, perform power system evaluations, and serve as the primary technical interface with customers, utilities, and partners to lead discussions and presentations. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, EPC, and product teams to prepare proposal content, evaluate design tradeoffs, and conduct peer reviews. Validate design assumptions through site visits and customer engagements while ensuring quality and consistency of technical outputs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field
- Strong knowledge of low-voltage and medium-voltage power systems, generation systems, and electrical distribution
- Experience developing and interpreting electrical system diagrams, including single-line diagrams and power system layouts
- Ability to evaluate technical challenges from a systems perspective and translate requirements into practical engineering solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines and functions
- Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer
- Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions
- Strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 20 pounds
- Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
- Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone/computer
Desired Qualifications
- 4+ years (preferred) of experience in power systems, distributed generation, microgrids, or related fields
- Experience with power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, or reliability analysis
- Familiarity with power system modeling tools (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, PSS/E, MATLAB/Simulink)
- Experience with electrical equipment design and layout, including switchgear and interconnection systems
- Understanding of protection schemes, relaying concepts, and system coordination
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design tools
- Experience supporting technical proposals, bids, or customer-facing engineering efforts
- Familiarity with RFP processes and working within defined commercial and technical constraints
- Exposure to utility interconnection, distributed energy resources (DER), or grid services
