Solution Engineer - China

On-siteChangzhou, Jiangsu, China

Full TimeMedium

Job Summary

Lead the technical pre-sales process by translating customer use cases into optimized energy storage solutions and developing robust models that quantify performance and ROI. Drive deal strategy through technical discovery sessions, RFP responses, and contract negotiations while producing bankable proposals with system sizing and compliance documentation. Partner with sales, marketing, and engineering teams to generate application content, support product launches, and ensure customer requirements inform the roadmap. Manage end-to-end system design validation, including single-line diagrams, performance guarantees, and commissioning readiness for utility-scale and C&I deployments. Travel 10–20% to support site validation and industry events. Join a Silicon Valley-founded team deploying NASA-derived metal-hydrogen battery technology with a high-volume manufacturing facility in Changzhou, China.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including system design, applications engineering, integration, technical sales support, and service
  • Demonstrated expertise designing multi-MW scale energy storage systems, with strong command of both DC and AC electrical design principles
  • High level of technical aptitude spanning from battery cell fundamentals through C&I and utility-scale battery systems
  • Strong working knowledge of secondary battery chemistries, degradation mechanisms, system architectures, and operational limitations across diverse duty cycles
  • Practical experience with balance-of-system (BOS) equipment, including inverters, medium-voltage transformers, combiner boxes, DC/DC converters, EMS, and BMS platforms
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and applicable regulatory codes and standards for PV and energy storage installations, including NFPA 70 (NEC), IEEE 1547, UL 9540, UL 1741, and other relevant global standards
  • Solid understanding of how energy storage and PV projects are constructed, commissioned, and brought online
  • Ability to interpret operational data, apply statistical analysis techniques, and produce clear, actionable reports
  • Working knowledge of commercial contracts, performance guarantees, and how technical design and proposal assumptions must support contractual obligations
  • Familiarity with competitive energy storage products in the market and the ability to clearly articulate differentiated technical value
  • Proven ability to operate cross-functionally across engineering, product, sales, marketing, and field teams
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accountability for deliverables
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10–20% to support customer engagement, project development, site validation, and industry events

Desired Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate likely spent the first part of his or her career building deep technical foundations in power systems, battery engineering, PV + storage integration, or grid-connected infrastructure—either at a leading OEM, EPC, developer, utility, or technology-driven energy company—where he or she developed rigorous analytical skills and a strong safety mindset
  • He or she has since operated in a fast-paced, customer-facing or scaling environment, applying that technical depth to commercial pursuits and supporting projects from early-stage feasibility through commissioning and field optimization
  • Unique opportunity to own full end-to-end technical application engineering work of a disruptive long-duration metal-hydrogen energy storage technology in the US, the company's key APAC strategic market
  • Direct alignment with EnerVenue's global headquarters in Silicon Valley and joint technical roadmap planning with Stanford University R&D team
  • Competitive compensation package for mid-level technical leadership role including base salary and project performance bonus tied to successful bid delivery and project win rate
  • Mid-level technical management position backed by top-tier global investors, with clear gigawatt-scale production capacity expansion roadmap based out of Changzhou, China to fully support US market supply
  • Join a mission-driven team developing 30-year service-life grid infrastructure energy storage equipment, rather than short-cycle consumer & EV lithium-ion batteries
  • Full technical training resources, access to global electrochemical R&D data and field test cases, plus funding for US industry conferences and standard certification upgrades
