Job Summary
Define, document, and evolve the technology strategy and roadmap for Reaxys and the wider Chemistry Solutions, aligned to business goals and enterprise standards. Partner with the Lead Architect and cross-functional teams to guide architectural principles, champion software engineering best practices, and drive responsible application of generative AI, large language models, and knowledge graphs to chemistry data use cases. Provide design and architecture governance by reviewing projects to ensure scalability and security, while monitoring domain health to address risks and technical debt. Lead troubleshooting efforts to diagnose and resolve complex Chemistry Domain issues, and research industry advancements to create new solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience in software, network or systems architecture, with a strong grasp of architectural design, patterns and governance
- Good working knowledge of more than one programming language
- Practical, current experience applying AI/ML technologies — generative AI and large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, natural language processing, information retrieval or data mining — ideally at scale
- Solid working knowledge of several of: cloud-native and distributed architectures (AWS, Azure or GCP), microservices and APIs, large-scale data platforms and databases, knowledge graphs and linked data, semantic search, and high-performance or parallel processing
- Familiarity with modern data and ML engineering practices such as CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, containerisation and MLOps
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, including communicating complex technical content to technical and non-technical audiences alike
- A track record of contribution to complex technology projects in a global, matrixed environment
- A natural ability to engage, influence and build relationships with stakeholders, teams and vendors across the business
