Job Summary
Solution Architect-Network Automation role based in Knutsford, UK, responsible for designing, developing, and delivering network automation solutions. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand needs, balance technology risks with business delivery, and drive cloud-native modernization via elasticity, serverless, containerisation, and secure-by-design architectures. Leads architectural input for governance, privacy, security, and run-cost considerations; guides product-like design of solutions that can evolve; supports operational teams with fault isolation and performance improvements; aligns with Barclays values and leadership expectations. Requires hands-on experience with Python, microservices, FasAPI, Ansible/Terraform, Netmiko/Netconf/YANG, middleware (Kafka, API gateways), DevOps tooling, cloud infrastructure, and Agile/SRE practices. The role emphasizes collaboration across functional leadership and engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and measurable technology outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Product development experience
- Experience with Python Programming
- Experience with Micro services architecture
- FasAPI
- Ansible or Terraform experience
- Experience with Netmiko or similar network automation libraries including Netconf/Yang based Automation
- Knowledge of middleware technologies (Kafka, API gateways and others)
- Hands-on experience with DevOps tooling (GitOps, CI/CD, configuration management, Jenkins)
- Ample Network knowledge (CCNA or similar)
- Virtualisation/Infrastructure domain experience preferred
- Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure services: compute, storage, networking, hybrid connectivity, monitoring/logging, security and IAM
- Proficiency in Agile Methodologies Scrum/Kanban, backlog and workflow mgmt
- SRE specific reporting (MTTR, deployment frequency, SLO and others)
