Job Summary
Position responsible for the overall planning, organization, coordination, and management of Solid Waste Operations, including overseeing the Transfer Station, and overseeing commercial and residential collection routes; applies modern management practices and procedures, ensures regulatory compliance, and collaborates with city departments, agencies, and stakeholders. Lead and supervise supervisors and staff, determine resource needs, develop and implement new programs and procedures to improve services, manage budgets and expenditures, and oversee contracts and intergovernmental agreements; emphasize effective communication, customer service, and safety within a city solid-waste context.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred; five (5) years of experience in planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing the collection and/or transfer of solid waste with at least three (3) years at the supervisory/managerial level plus experience in preparing/monitoring budgets, creating/maintaining statistical reports and trend analysis; and overseeing contract development/management; or equivalent
