Job Summary
Progress files in line with KPI targets and assist a Lead Lawyer on serious injury cases ranging from RTA to EL, PL & OL matters. Liaise with clients, experts, barristers, third parties, and police as directed to ensure matters are progressed timely while maximising damages. Draft statements of case, witness statements, pleadings, and instructions; prepare accurate file notes, case plans, and trial bundles. Research points of law regarding liability and quantum before undertaking tasks. Undertake telephone negotiations, case management conferences, and attend court, joint settlement meetings, and conferences with or without counsel. Pursue cases to conclusion and maintain excellent client care.
Required Qualifications
- Newly qualified or equivalent experience in running a personal injury caseload
- Good researching and drafting skills
- Sound base knowledge of the law surrounding serious injury and court procedure
- Good attention to detail, with file management and organisational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to the needs of a diverse environment and able to quickly analyse complex information in order to make reasoned decisions
- IT competent
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Previous legal work experience in the PI field
- Must be flexible in working hours and able to travel
Desired Qualifications
- Preferably previous experience of working in a personal injury department
- Willingness to work with other teams across the business
- Willingness to engage in networking and marketing events
- Buddying new members of the team to help with development
- A law degree or a Graduate Diploma in Law, or a desire to gain legal qualifications via CILEX, paralegal apprenticeship or the SQE routes
- Driving licence
