Job Summary
Conduct daily operational rounds and implement complex Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures across multiple Idaho solar sites including Jackpot, Franklin, and Black Mesa. Perform inverter and array maintenance, oversee contractor activities, and manage rotational on-call duties while maintaining rigorous environmental and safety records. Execute startup duties for new site commissioning, develop preventive maintenance procedures, and troubleshoot photovoltaic systems using technical schematics and OEM manuals. Coordinate with the Operations Center regarding plant status and prepare service reports for emergency repairs and equipment investigations.
Required Qualifications
- High School/GED
- Valid driver's license
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to work alone, as well as, in a team environment
- Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to walk, climb stairs and on equipment
- Must be able to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist
- Must be able to use hands to finger, lift, handle, carry or feel objects
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, talk and hear
- Must have specific vision abilities
- Must be able to work in high and low temperatures
- Must be able to perform daily operational rounds and operations activities
- Must be competent to train to become LOTO desk qualified
- Must be able to perform all Lock-Out-Tag-Out tasks needed for maintenance activities including research, development, isolation, independent verification, zero energy verification and work leader duties
- Must be able to perform inverter / array maintenance tasks
- Must be able to perform routine preventative maintenance tasks
- Must be able to communicate with Operations Center regarding daily plant / equipment status and maintenance
- Must be able to perform rotational On-Call duties
- Must be able to perform record keeping duties concerning Environmental, Health & Safety records, spread sheets and documents
- Must be able to read and understand technical OEM manuals, recommendations, and warranty agreements
- Must be able to perform startup duties necessary to commission new sites
- Must have strong instrumentation, electrical / electronic controls knowledge
- Must be able to coordinate, time management, and thorough record keeping
- Must be able to become proficient in the aforementioned required skills
- Must be able to read and understand technical electrical, civil, and mechanical drawings
- Must have general knowledge of high voltage equipment and ability to perform high voltage switching
- Must be able to prepare service reports for site visits, emergency repairs, equipment modifications and equipment improvement investigations
- Must ensure a safe, event free work environment by ensuring strict adherence to company protocols
- Must enforce procedures and processes in accordance with site specific O&M Standards and guidelines
- Must develop and review site specific procedures
- Must be able to complete Level I job performance measures and training Deriva Energy renewables academy within 1 year
- Must be able to complete Level II job performance measures and training Deriva Energy renewables academy within 1 year
- Must be able to complete Level III job performance measures and training Deriva Energy renewables academy within 1 year
- Must have strong interpersonal skills to effectively direct owner and contract company associates
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to demonstrate problem solving ability
- Must be motivated to work independently
- Must have strong organization skills
- Must have experience using electrical test and measurement equipment
- Must be able to troubleshoot from schematics
- Must have solid working knowledge of various measurement techniques
- Must have experience with inverter controls / maintenance and photovoltaic system functionality
- Must have experience with PLC Controls / Computer Networking
- Must have working knowledge of Power Distribution systems
- Must have Electrical Design experience
- Must have Maximo CMMS experience
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
- Must have knowledge of general safety and environmental practices
- Must be able to work alone, as well as, in a team environment
- Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time during the day
- Must be able to walk, climb stairs and on equipment
- Must be able to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to use hands to finger, lift, handle, carry or feel objects
