Solar Project Engineer

Job Summary

Lead the technical electrical engineering evaluation, design, and execution of solar projects for commercial and industrial clients. Manage the design and review of solar system drawings, including electrical interconnection, modeling, and performance data. Review technical equipment specifications, conceptual and detailed designs, and analyze load flow, voltage drop, arc flash, and protective relay systems. Prepare single lines, electrical block diagrams, power, and instrumentation plans while assessing structural considerations and interconnect issues. Coordinate engineering activities, review work for code and standard compliance, and review RFP and contract documents. Conduct site visits to determine optimal design and layout, and act as a liaison between project management, customers, and technical teams. Support sales proposals and design follow-up. Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required with 1-3 years of experience; NABCEP certification preferred. Travel as needed.

  • Solar or new construction project management experience
  • Proficiency in understanding solar system design (Heliosocpe, AutoCAD, PVsyst)
  • NABCEP Design Specialist Certification
  • Knowledge of Electric (NEC) and Fire codes
  • Critical and innovative thinking
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience with various solar panels and inverters
  • Experience preparing electrical engineering design packages
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
