Job Summary
Lead the development of space-qualified solar panels and backing structures for Blue Origin spacecraft, acting as technical lead to coordinate cross-disciplinary engineers and drive product development from concept through production readiness. You will oversee design reviews with suppliers and customers, support design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), manage component-level test programs, and collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and other teams to ensure successful integration of solar panels with vehicle subsystems across the full lifecycle of the hardware.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science, Physics, Aerospace Engineering or related areas of study
- 5+ years of direct experience in solar panel development (or similarly constructed products)
- 3+ years in space applications desired
- Experience across the full product development lifecycle
- Designing, specifying, procuring, and testing of space grade panels and adhesives
- Familiarity with photovoltaic cells and test methods (AIAA S-112)
- Knowledge of space environment effects on solar panels (vacuum, radiation, UV, temperature cycling)
- Hands-on capability and collaborative mindset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
