Job Summary
Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician Level 2 responsible for advanced inspections, preventative maintenance, and core system troubleshooting of solar energy and energy storage systems. Work independently in high-voltage environments, lead junior technicians on-site, and follow a defined development pathway toward Technician III. Key duties include performing comprehensive electrical and mechanical inspections, implementing preventive maintenance (including infrared thermography, insulation resistance testing, and I/V curve tracing), diagnosing and troubleshooting in 600Vac/1500Vdc environments, developing preventative maintenance schedules, producing detailed reports and equipment recommendations, and staying current with industry safety practices and training. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 2 years of solar/electrical experience, proficiency with diagnostic tools (I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, Isolation testers), ability to read schematics, and valid driver’s license. Certifications such as FAA Part 107 and OSHA NFPA 70e are preferred. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, plus the ability to work independently and mentor others. Eligible applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and sponsorship is not offered. The role emphasizes safety, field leadership, and continuous learning with a clear growth pathway and tuition reimbursement availability.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the solar industry or related electrical field
- FAA Part 107 Certification (and familiarity operating drones for aerial thermographic purposes)
- OSHA 30-hour and NFPA 70e certifications are preferred
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and engineering drawings
- Knowledge of Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) is preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of electrical systems, solar energy principles, and grid-tied systems
