Job Summary
Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) in Milam, TX; perform field maintenance and learn safe practices in the solar industry. Responsibilities include operating and caring for company property and solar equipment, servicing equipment at multiple solar plants under supervision, basic testing, troubleshooting and maintenance, replacing or repairing solar parts under supervision, responding on-call as directed, preparing accurate documentation and reports, and collaborating to implement process and technology improvements. Requires high school diploma or GED (or equivalent), basic mechanical/electrical understanding, ability to follow instructions, on-site work, remote travel up to 10%, valid driver’s license, and NFPA 70e safety training with ongoing safety/technical trainings; strong English communication and willingness to work in various weather conditions. The role emphasizes safety, adherence to policies, and opportunities for professional growth within SOLV Energy.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent; vocational/technical school training a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work in a mechanical/electrical environment
- Demonstrated basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Demonstrated basic understanding of solar installation/plant
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of testing equipment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Obtain NFPA 70e Safety Training certification
- Remain current in all safety and technical trainings
- Effective verbal and written English language communication skills
- Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to work on an on-call basis (weekends or after-hours)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% for training and site coverage
